Is there an age for learning?

This week I told my parents how much I am currently learning from both my job and from the subjects I'm taking in the master. My mother, who is a little afraid of new technologies, replied that she wouldn't be able to start anything new at her age. Surely, I told her: "of course you can!"

It is surprising how many people when they reach a certain age, start thinking they have peaked all their knowledge, and can only learn basic and simple things. While many of them are too tired just to start learning anything new, others are simply afraid of trying (and failing).

A few weeks ago, we learned the concept of brain plasticity. Brain plasticity is an inherent characteristic of the brain which allows for learning at any point in one's life, which means that we are able to learn at any age, not only when we are young. This is something I value: not being the smartest or the fastest to learn, but having the willingness to learn, even if you can not retain all the information.

As an answer to the question in the title: no, there is no age for learning. The only thing someone need is a positive attitude towards what they can learn.
